Bangalow

The beautiful heritage village of Bangalow is a must for day trippers from Byron Bay and the surrounding areas. It's just a quick 10 to 15 minute drive from Byron Bay, through the rolling green hills of the hinterland. It's also a great place to stay if you'd prefer to be away from the bustle of Byron Bay itself.

Though small, the village has emerged as a reknown foodie destination within Australia and has several top notch eateries. From cosy cafes to degustations, seafood, asian, gourmet burgers and a great pub dining room, there really is a lot of choice. There is a fantastic farmers' market every Saturday morning (held behind the hotel) which showcases the amazing local produce of the area, from coffee to meats to gourmet cheeses.

The only fully intact Federation town on the east coast of Australia, it has a picturesque main street lined with gorgeous double storied turn of the century buildings. It's a treasure trove of quirky and quaint shops, galleries and eating options, perfect for an afternoon of leisurely strolling and browsing. There are funky clothes boutiques, homewares and import emporiums. There are plenty of interesting things to browse and buy and you can easily lose a whole afternoon just pottering around.
