Immerse yourself in the waters surrounding Nguthungulli Julian Rocks, Byron Bay. Home to more than 1000 marine species, including sharks, rays, loggerhead, green & hawksbill sea turtles and over 500 species of tropical and temperate fish. Join us in one of Australia's prettiest and oldest Acquatic Reserves! Come with us to explore the underwater beauty of NJR and embark on a discovery journey: during summer, Leopard Sharks and Mata Rays swim around peacefully; in winter, Grey Nurse Sharks and Humpback Whales aggregates in these waters. All year round, rays, sea turtles, and more than 500 species of fish can be found living at Nguthungulli Julian Rocks. Want to become a citizen scientist? Join our Turtle School workshop! You will learn some of the ecology and biology of our local sea turtle species, how to identify them, and how to help protect them! Once in the water you can test your identification skills and practice responsible interaction while photographing our stunning sea turtles in one of Australia's most diverse and beautiful marine sanctuaries. Your participation, education, and photo-identification contributions directly support the conservation of these critically endangered animals. Byron Bay Turtle School conducts scientific research under an NSW government permit.Includes

- if you are travelling from Queensland, please take into account that we are an hour ahead until the end of Australian Eastern Daylight Saving Time. We require all particiapnt to be able to swi at least 200 meters unassisted in open ocean - conditions can be rough at times, with waves, surge, and current (always in the limits of safety!) Children must be accompanied by an adult. Not recommended for participants with serious medical conditions or pregnant women. Our boats launch from The Pass - you or any member of your party must be able to step up into the boat from the shore with the water up to your waist. All participants will be required to complete a health questionnaire prior to snorkelling. Subject to favourable weather conditions. If cancelled due to poor weather, you will be given the option of an alternative date, a gift voucher, or full refund.
